The police have unearthed a fraud ring involving Chinese handlers in which 15,000 Indians were duped of over Rs 700 crore. The money was routed to China and some of it was also sent to an account operated by the terror group Hezbollah.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said India has been closely sticking to the charter of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and raised concerns over attempts to bring in bilateral issues into the agenda of the eight-nation regional grouping that primarily focuses on security and defence issues.

Amid heightened tension between India and Pakistan over Islamabad's denial and duplicity over terror groups flourishing under its watch, a fresh proposal by the US, UK and France has been submitted at the United Nations Security Council or UNSC to designate Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar a global terrorist.

In what can be seen as a diplomatic victory for New Delhi, China today supported India's stand on Pakistan-based terrorism and said that terror groups cannot be used to promote a country's political and geopolitical goals.

A day after it emerged that China did not want a reference to Jaish-e-Mohammed in the United Nations Security Council statement strongly condemning the Pulwama terror attack, Beijing today tried to downplay the statement and said the mention of the Pakistan-based terror group does not represent a judgement and was only in "general terms".
