Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday congratulated Asif Ali Zardari on his election as the Pakistan President, saying that the "iron-clad friendship" between the two countries is a "choice of history".

China asserted that its "ironclad friendship" with Pakistan always remain "rock-firm and unbreakable" irrespective of any changes in the international landscape as it congratulated Anwarul Haq Kakar on his appointment as caretaker prime minister.
