Maharashtra minister and Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai has asked the Union civil aviation ministry to name Aurangabad airport after Chhatrapati Sambhaji, an official here said on Tuesday.

AIMIM MP from Aurangabad Imtiaz Jaleel on Thursday said they have no problem if the airport in Aurangabad is renamed after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, but the city's name should not be changed.

Maharashtra government on Thursday approved renaming the airport at Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Airport. Sambhaji Maharaj was the son of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen had to return to Mumbai from the airport in Aurangabad after protests led by AIMIM legislator Imtiyaz Jaleel broke out outside the airport and the hotel she was supposed to stay in during her visit to the city.

CBI has arrested the Director of Chikalthana Airport in Aurangabad for allegedly taking bribe and carried out raids at his office and residence today.
