Mukul Rohatgi Appointed Attorney General of India, to Hold Post for Three Years

The government today officially appointed senior Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohatgi as the new Attorney General of India, the top law officer of the country. Mr Rohatgi will take charge next week and will hold the post for three years.

The Supreme Court took exception to counsel Prashant Bhushan's comment that it was hesitant in taking action against Attorney General G.E. Vahanvati, but later on Wednesday accepted his apology that he did not intend to lower the esteem of the court or hurt judges.
