Amit Shah Crackers Remark

The Election Commission on Sunday issued showcause notices to BJP president Amit Shah, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad, after it held they had violated the model code of conduct in force for Bihar assembly polls.

The Election Commission tonight issued a showcause notice to BJP President Amit Shah for his remarks that if his party loses Bihar elections, crackers will go off in Pakistan and said prima facie he has violated the model code in force in the state.

I don't know what the BJP is seeking votes in Bihar for: for the Ganga of development to flow in the state, to ban cow slaughter which has already been banned here since 1955, to save or disturb affirmative action for the lower castes, or to prevent fireworks in Pakistan.

The gloves are off in the election campaign for Bihar, where BJP president Amit Shah created a hugely controversial moment today when he said at a rally that "fire crackers will be burst in Pakistan if the BJP is defeated in Bihar."
