Jio and Airtel have over 125 million 5G subscribers between them. The companies have been offering 5G connectivity at existing 4G rates and including unlimited 5G data with select plans. However, experts now suggest that the firms may soon stop their unlimited 5G offering and will likely increase 5G plan charges over the existing 4G plans.

Sixty-nine percent of respondents in a survey revealed that they faced call drops and connection issues on any given day. The survey by Local Circles recorded 42,000 responses from citizens across 338 districts, revealing that a majority of users faced connection issues on a daily basis.

5G services are available across 238 Indian cities at the end of January 2023, Union minister of state for communications, Devusinh Chauhan informed Parliament on Wednesday. The Government issued spectrum allocation letters to telecom service providers in August 2022, while asking them to prepare for the rollout of 5G services in the country.

Bharti Airtel on Friday launched its 5G services in three new cities in Kerala, bringing the high-speed network to Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur. The company mentioned in a statement that its 5G services are already live in Kochi.

Airtel announced on Friday that it had expanded the rollout of its 5G network to new areas in Haryana. Access to 5G networks will be available in Hissar and Rohtak, according to the telecom operator. Airtel previously rolled out 5G support in select areas in Gurugram and Panipat, as well as other cities across the country over the past few months.
