Wipro Ltd Chief Executive Officer Abidali Z Neemuchwala is leaving after a turbulent four years during which growth stalled and the Indian IT services giant fell farther behind rivals Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

Neemuchwala, 52, will continue to hold the office of the CEO and Managing Director, until a successor is appointed for a smooth transition and to ensure that business continues as usual, the company said in a BSE filing.

The company had announced the elevation of Mr Kurien as executive vice chairman with the appointment of Abidali Z Neemuchwala as chief executive officer and executive director a year ago.
