Rahul-Priyanka visit Amethi; Centre complains about security

The letter surfaced on Thursday, a day before the siblings’ visit to Amethi. It was written on October 27 and cites two specific instances of lapses - one in Raebareli and the other in Amethi. Both instances happened this year. (NDTV Photo)

The Centre has reportedly warned the state government to adhere to security norms.

The Congress has stressed upon the fact that this visit is a "non-political" one and that Rahul and Priyanka are visiting the constituency to review works undertaken by women self-help groups.

Rahul Gandhi will leave for New Delhi on Friday evening, while Priyanka will stay overnight at the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital guesthouse and leave on Saturday.

The Special Protection Guards providing security cover to the two have taken charge at the guesthouse.
