She has inherited vigor from her father and beauty from mother. Initially she was interested in playing football in which she made it to the National soccer team.
Following in her mother's foot-steps, she excels in classical dances like Odissi and Bharatanatyam and has performed at many functions with her mother and elder sister.
Her first Hindi film was Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche in 2002. The movie was not a commercial hit but her acting got her several awards, one of them was prestigious Filmfare Best Debut Award.

The much-needed success came from Dhoom in 2004. She plays Sheena, the villain Uday Chopra's love interest. She was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.
