Former Miss India and Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley turns a year older today.
On this special day, we take a pictorial look at her personal and professional journey.
Celina was born in Shimla on November 24, 1981. Her father V K Jaitley is a retired colonel and her mother Meeta, an Afghan nurse in the Indian Army.
She has one brother, who followed his parents into the armed services.
Celina's family was always on the move from one army base to another, which meant that she went to school in many different cities, including Lucknow and Kolkata.
The teenaged Celina considered an army career but that changed when, at 16, she began modeling.
In the year 2001, Celina took part in and won the Miss India beauty pageant.
She may not have won the Miss Universe pageant the same year, but Celina did reach the final five and went on to become the fourth runner up.
In the same year, Celina featured in Jazzy B's music video Oh Kehri, and Bombay Vikings' Zara Nazron Se Kehdo remake.
Bollywood came calling in the year 2003, when 22-year-old Celina was discovered by actor-director Feroz Khan.
Celina made her debut in his film Janasheen, starring opposite Feroz Khan's son Fardeen.
Sadly, the movie tanked at the box office.
In the same year, 2003, she acted in Khel – No Ordinary Game and Silsilay.
Both movies flopped at the box office.
In the year 2005, Celina featured in No Entry, Jawani Dewani: A Youthful Joyride and the Telugu film Suryam.
Apart from No Entry, which became the biggest blockbuster of 2005, the other two films were declared flops.
In 2006, Celina was seen in Zinda, Tom, Dick, and Harry, Apna Sapna Money Money and Red: The Dark Side.
Zinda and Apna Sapna Money Money got mixed reviews at the box office.
2007 was no different for Celina, who acted in Shakalaka Boom Boom, which flopped terribly at the box office.
She even made a special appearance in the title track of Heyy Babyy.
Heyy Babyy was a hit at the box office.
In the year 2008, Celina's C Kkompany and Money Hai Toh Honey Hai came and went without even being noticed by anyone. Golmaal Returns, however, was a huge box office hit.
2009-2012 were fairly similar for Celina. With the exception of Thank You, which met with a lukewarm reception, Paying Guests, Accident on Hill Road, Hello Darling, Will You Marry Me? and Run Bhola Run were declared flops.
Celina announced her engagement with Austrian businessman, Peter Haag, in the year 2011.
She married Peter on July 23, 2011 at a 1000-year old monastery in Austria and gave birth to twins Winston and Viraaj in March 2012.
Her career in Bollywood may not have taken off, but Celina has been an enthusiastic supporter of social causes, including the rights of the LGBT community in India.
She has also been involved with PETA, human rights, women and children's health, and sex workers rehabilitation in India for some time now.
Here's wishing the blue eyed beauty a very happy birthday and a great year ahead.
