AMRI case: Signature campaign wants accused to be tried for murder
Kolkata: Two months ago, at around exactly this time, thick smoke had engulfed the Amri hospital in Kolkata; smoke that at the end of the day had killed 92 people and left their families bereaved and the entire nation shocked.

The grieving families of the dead have now come together and formed the Human Health Right Forum to get justice for their loved ones. Today, members of the forum will launch a signature campaign across Kolkata and beyond to remind the city of the horrific tragedy and demand action against those responsible.

The 12 people arrested in the case so far include eight directors and four staff members of the south Kolkata hospital. They have been booked under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which is culpable homicide not amounting to murder. (Read: Two top Kolkata doctors arrested in AMRI case)

The forum is demanding that all those responsible for the AMRI tragedy be charged with murder.
