"Rajnath Singh didn't mention China even once. The point is we are now facing in front of us a China-Pakistan fusion," said Rahul Gandhi.

"The forces should only be used in national interest, If you want to unleash a tiger, free him. Fight properly and defeat them," said Rahul Gandhi

"India's biggest security challenge is keeping Pakistan and China separate. China and Pakistan are fused. This means that the government was fighting Pakistan but when they arrived, they realised they are fighting Pak and China. PAF was attached to the Chinese. The Chinese was feeding critical battlefield info and satellite info. Pakistan was getting live battlefield inputs from China," said Rahul Gandhi.

"This government is clueless about what deterrence means, what political will means," said Rahul Gandhi.

"When the delegation is running around telling the world about terrorism. Asim Munir is having lunch with the US president," said Rahul Gandhi.

"Donald Trump said 29 times that he mediated the ceasefire. If the PM has the audacity that let him say here that he was lying. If he has the courage he will say this evening that Donald Trump is a liar," said Rahul Gandhi.

"Why was the Pakistan government told? Meaning, we have slapped you once but we won't hit you twice. Why? Because the goal of the exercise was to protect the image of the Prime Minister. He used the airforce to protect his image," said Rahul Gandhi.

"The point is aircraft were lost because there was a political constraint given by the government to not attack. So, you told them that you don't have the political will," said Rahul Gandhi.

"It was immediate surrender in 30 minutes. Mr Singh also said something interesting that he told Pakistan that we won't hit any of their military targets," said Rahul Gandhi

"Rajnath Singh said that Operation Sindoor began at 1.05 in the morning. And then he said it lasted 22 minutes. And then he said at 1.35, we called Pakistan and told them that we have hit non-military targets and that we don't want to escalate. The DGMO of India was asked to go for a ceasefire at 1.35 in the night," Rahul Gandhi said.

"You told Pakistan your political will, that you don't want to fight," he said.

"Rajnath Singh compared Op Sindoor with 1971 yesterday. But, in 1971, there was a political will," Rahul Gandhi said.

"The Opposition had decided that we will stand like a rock with our forces and our elected government," said Rahul Gandhi.

"It was a brutal and heartless attack. People were murdered in cold blood. And everyone present in this House condemned Pakistan. Before Op Sindoor, we said that we would stand with the government," said Rahul Gandhi.

Launching a volley of attacks on the Centre during the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said "factories of lies" have been set up and demanded that accountability be fixed.

Congress MP Mallu Ravi today praised Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's Parliament speech and urged the government to take responsibility:  "Priyanka Gandhi gave a befitting reply to the Union Home Minister, Defence Minister and others... This is the failure of the current government. She had said that when the Mumbai 26/11 happened, the Home Minister had resigned, but now no one is taking responsibility."

"Why is no one taking responsibility? This is an irresponsible government. 26 Indians were killed, but even at this crucial time, they want to divide people on the basis of religion... They should take responsibility and give their resignation..." he said.

"Uri and Pathankot terrorist attacks in 2016, Pulwama in 2019 and now Pahalgam in 2025. All these incidents make it clear that there is a recurring Intelligence failure and failure in national security," said Mallikarjun Kharge.

He then posed direct questions to Amit Shah, "I would like to ask the Home Minister, who is responsible for this?...What did you do to rectify the mistake?...I would like to ask the Home Minister, that who is responsible for this? Vacate your post if you are. If no, what action is the PM taking?"

Who did Congress veteran Sonia Gandhi cry for? And for whom did she not? This was the subject of a barbed exchange between opposition leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Home Minister Amit Shah of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Treasury and Opposition benches faced off in parliament this afternoon as Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra read out the names of the 25 Indians murdered in cold blood by terrorists in Pahalgam.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said in Rajya Sabha today that Home Minister Amit Shah should take responsibility for security lapses in Pahalgam.

Participating in a special discussion on Operation Sindoor in Parliament, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge asked if there was any intel about the terror attack in Pahalgam, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancelled his scheduled visit three days before the attack.

"Was there intel about an attack? If so, why were tourists and pilgrims allowed?" Mr Kharge asked.

"Indians were killed in Pahalgam," Senior Congress leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said as she remembered the victims of the terror attack in Pahalgam.

"Meri maa ke aasu tab gire jab unke pati ko aatankvadiyo ne shaheed kiya (My mother wept when her husband was martyred by terrorists)," said Priyanka Gandhi in her response to the Union Home Minister's attack on Sonia Gandhi.

Earlier in the day, Mr Shah tore into the Congress, claiming that former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi shed tears for the terrorists who were killed in the 2008 Batla House encounter in Delhi.

Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi questioned the government over the ceasefire and asked why it happened.

"Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor admitted to lapse in Pahalgam security but his admission was not taken seriously," said Senior Congress leader and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Lok Sabha.

Raising questions on the lack of accountability, Ms Gandhi added, "Did Home Minister take responsibility? Did anyone resign over intelligence failure?"

The Resistance Front (TRF) was formulated in 2019. In 2020, it started terrorism in Kashmir and has launched 25 attacks since then, said Priyanka Gandhi in Parliament.

"When did India designate TRF as a terrorist group? It was in 2023, three years after TRF started operating in Kashmir," said Ms Gandhi, questioning the government.

The government abandoned us, said Priyanka Gandhi, quoting Pahalgam terror attack victim Shubham Dwivedi's wife.

"Why was there no security?" asked Ms Gandhi.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi said the government claimed that Kashmir was terrorist free. People were vacationing in Pahalgam when the attack happened. The question is, how did terrorists get there? she asked.

"People ran towards forests to save themselves," she added.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah tore into the Congress, claiming that former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi shed tears for the terrorists who were killed in the 2008 Batla House encounter in Delhi.

On September 19, 2008, two terrorists of the Indian Mujahideen, hiding in a flat at Batla House in Jamia Nagar, were eliminated by an armed police unit. Mohan Chand Sharma, an inspector with the Delhi Police, was killed in action during the encounter.

Recalling the incident, Mr Shah said he was surprised seeing then Congress chief Sonia Gandhi crying after the encounter.

"I would like to remember Salman Khurshid. One day, I was having an early breakfast when I saw him weeping on TV while leaving Sonia Gandhi's house. I thought something big had happened. He said that Sonia Gandhi was in tears over the Batla House incident. If you had to cry, you should have done that for Shaheed Mohan Sharma and not the Batla House terrorists," Mr Shah said in Lok Sabha.

On Monday, a massive political row has erupted over Congress veteran P Chidambaram's remarks in an interview, in which he said "homegrown terrorists" could be involved in the Pahalgam terror attack and questioned what evidence proves that the killers came from Pakistan.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah detailed the steps taken to identify the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack, the same terrorists who were killed in Operation Mahadev on Monday. Mr Shah said that as part of the investigation, the team spoke to the family members of the victims, tourists, ponywallahs, photographers, locals, among others.

In total, 1,055 people were interrogated for over three hours. Based on the information, sketches were created. Following this, on June 22, two men - Bashir and Parvez - were identified as men who provided shelter to the terrorists. 

After three months and six days, the security forces hunted down the mastermind of a terrorist attack in which 26 civilians were shot dead in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam on April 22. The security forces avenged the attack by killing Hashim Musa, alias Suleiman Shah, in an encounter near Srinagar along with two terrorists today.

Suleiman Shah, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist, is a former commando of the Pakistan Army's elite unit - Special Service Group (SSG). He later joined UN-designated terrorist Hafiz Saeed's LeT to carry out terror activities, sources told NDTV.

The security forces in Jammu and Kashmir avenged the Pahalgam attack today after hunting down the alleged mastermind, Suleiman Shah, alias Hashim Musa, in an encounter in Srinagar. Codenamed Operation Mahadev, three terrorists were killed in an encounter that was planned meticulously for several days before execution.

Speaking on Operation Sindoor in Parliament, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that three terrorists killed in Operation Mahadev were involved in the Pahalgam attack of April 22. Three terrorists have been identified as Suleiman, Afghan and Jibran.

Operation Mahadev was jointly carried out by the Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police, he said.

"What happened in Pahalgam was brutal. I condemn the terror attack in the strongest terms. I express condolences to the families of victims," said Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament.

"We want the discussion to continue, but the government is working to stop the discussion. They were not answering questions; they were just beating around the bush. They should answer the questions of the Congress party," he said.

Opposition MPs from the INDIA bloc are set to stage a protest at the Makar Dwar of Parliament on Tuesday at 10:30 AM, ahead of the day's proceedings.

The opposition is continuously raising questions over transparency and the verification process in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar.

Earlier on Monday, both houses of parliament were adjourned several times amid sloganeering by Opposition members demanding a discussion on the ongoing SIR in poll-bound Bihar, as well as other issues of public importance.

As the Congress tries to corner the Narendra Modi government during the ongoing Operation Sindoor debate, its internal strains are making headlines and putting the main Opposition on a sticky wicket. Amid the buzz over why senior party leader Shashi Tharoor was not speaking in the debate, another MP's social media post has left the Congress red-faced and given fresh ammo to the BJP.

Former Union Minister and Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari today shared a screenshot of a news report on why he and Mr Tharoor were benched for a debate. The post on X was captioned with the evergreen patriotic song from Purab Aur Pachhim (1970): "Hai preet jahaan ki reet sada, main geet wahaan ke gaata hoon, Bharat ka rehne waala hoon, Bharat ki baat sunata hoon. Jai Hind," the Congress MP wrote.

Both Mr Tewari and Mr Tharoor, who are not on the Congress list of speakers for the Parliament debate, were part of the Indian delegations that travelled abroad as part of New Delhi's global outreach after Operation Sindoor.

There will be no discussion on Bihar voter list revision in Parliament despite the Opposition's demand, the government has indicated, underscoring a reason cited by former Speaker Balaram Jakhar, sources have said. About this, three arguments are being considered by the government, sources said.

The first is that the campaign being run by the Central Election Commission is not an election reform. Rather, it is an administrative step and the Election Commission has been taking such steps from time to time.

The second reason is that even if a discussion is held in both houses of Parliament on the intensive revision of the voter list, there is no one to answer the questions that the Opposition could raise. The Election Commission cannot come to the House to present its side, sources pointed out. And although the Law Ministry is the nodal ministry for the Election Commission, it generally looks after only administrative work, and does not interfere in policy matters.

The third reason the government gave is that there are many such institutions which do not have a mechanism to present their side before the Parliament. In such situations, there cannot be a discussion about those institutions, sources said.
