New Delhi:
The BJP today returned fire at Bihar politician Lalu Prasad, who had quipped that the "world's largest political party" does not have a chief ministerial candidate for state polls later this year.
"There is no dearth of leadership in Bihar BJP. Have any of our leaders been convicted?" questioned union minister Radha Mohan Singh.
His colleague Ravi Shankar Prasad took a swipe at the leadership tussle between Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar despite saying they would contest together in the polls.
When Mr Kumar's name was finally announced, Lalu Prasad had said he was willing to do anything to defeat the BJP, "I am ready to consume all kinds of poison... But we will crush this cobra of communalism," he had said.
Mr Prasad has been convicted in the fodder scam, making him ineligible for contesting elections.
In an apparent reference to his remarks, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "...and nobody will make anybody else the leader by consuming poison."
