Jammu: Authorities on Tuesday did not allow any pilgrim to move from winter capital Jammu towards the Valley although 6,679 Yatris had 'Darshan' inside Amarnath Cave Shrine on Monday.

"Around 1,700 Yatris were stationed at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas on Tuesday.

"The decision to allow the pilgrims to proceed to the Valley will be taken after reviewing the situation later in the day," a senior police officer told IANS in winter capital Jammu.

Officials of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) said another batch of 6,679 pilgrims had Darshan inside the Cave Shrine on Monday.

"The total number of Yatris who have performed this year's Amarnath Yatra so far has reached 1,79,530," the SASB official said.

Many Yatris are reportedly stationed at safe places on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway where "Langar" (Free Kitchen) facilities are available.

Sources said these pilgrims would be allowed to move towards the Valley after the highway is cleared for safe passage.

Tension gripped the Qazigund area on the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Monday evening when a mob attacked an army patrol party. Two civilians were killed and four injured in the firing at protesters by the army at Khanabal on the same day.
