India COVID-19 Highlights: The active cases comprise 1.6 per cent of the total infections

India reported a total of 16,464 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall number of Covid-related infections in the country to 4,40,36,275.

The active COVID-19 cases increased to 1,43,989, according to the Union Health Ministry data

According to government data, India also reported 39 Covid-related fatalities on Sunday, taking the total number of deaths to 5,26,396.

The active cases comprise 1.6 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.5 per cent, the ministry said

Chhattisgarh on Monday reported 518 COVID-19 cases at a positivity rate of 4.56 per cent, taking the tally to 11,66,421, while the death count increased by one to reach 14,067, an official said.

The recovery count stood at 11,48,873 after 493 people were discharged, leaving the state with 3,481 active cases, he said.

Telangana on Monday recorded 771 new COVID-19 cases, taking the statewide tally to 8,20,617.

Hyderabad district reported the highest number of cases with 289.

A health department bulletin said 581 people recuperated from the infection raising the cumulative number of recoveries till date to 8,10,773. The recovery rate stood at 98.80 per cent.

797 fresh Covid-19 cases, 1 death in Odisha

Odisha recorded 797 new Covid-19 cases and one death due to the infection on Monday, the health department said. There are 6,732 active cases, out of which 1,546 are in Sundargarh and 1,240 in Khurda, according to the bulletin issued by the department.

The test positivity rate was 4.31 per cent with the new cases detected out of 18,475 samples. As many as 134 children were among the new patients.

Pakistan reports 656 fresh COVID-19 cases
Pakistan on Monday registered 656 fresh COVID-19 cases and one coronavirus-related death, as per the data by the country's National Institute of Health (NIH). With this, the COVID positivity rate in the country stood at 3.35%, ARY News reported citing the institution's data.

According to the NIH, 161 COVID-19 patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Units (ICU) across the country at different medical facilities.

62 new COVID-19 cases in Mizoram

Mizoram reported 62 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, 74 less than the previous day, with the state's tally increasing to 2,32,800, a health department official said. The toll remained unchanged at 710 as no new fatality was reported since Sunday.

Lunglei district reported the maximum number of fresh cases at 22, followed by Aizawl and Serchhip at 11 each, the official said.

The single-day positivity rate dipped to 19.25 per cent from 25.14 per cent the previous day, he said.

Assam reports one death, 60 new COVID-19 cases
Assam reported one death due to COVID-19 and 60 new positive cases during the last 24 hours, the National Health Mission (NHM) bulletin said on Monday. The lone death was reported from Tinsukia taking the count to 6,670 while 1347 corona positive patients have died due to other reasons since April, 2020, it said.

The 60 new cases were detected from among 950 samples tested, which is considerably lower than the previous day's 520 new cases detected from 8,112 samples tested.

Maharashtra Covid cases: Thane district logs 106 new cases

Thane district in Maharashtra reported 106 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 7,34,219, a health official said on Monday. The district is left with 758 active cases while 7,22,181COVID-19 patients have recovered so far.

With no fresh death due to the infection, the fatality toll stood at 11,927 as of Sunday, he added.

West Bengal Reports 1,011 New Covid Cases

West Bengal's Covid tally rose to 20,93,891 on Sunday as 1,011 more people tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.

Seven more patients died due to the infection, pushing the total count to 21,366.

The number of active cases dipped to 15,314 from 16,699 on the previous day as 2,389 more people were cured of the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 20,57,211.
