How long does root canal treatment last for?

Question
In case of root canal therapy (RCT) and capping of two teeth other than the molar, how long does it last effectively without any problem once it is done successfully in a 48 years old healthy man? In case of some trouble, how is capping and RCT removed or is the tooth extracted to eliminate the problem?
Expert Answer
M
Normally a successfully completed RCT followed by capping lasts for a long time and may not need any intervention for 8-10 years. If any problem then the caps can be retrieved or cut off and RCT retreated and caps fixed again without sacrificing the teeth.
