Warner Bros. and CBS Films are joining forces to adaptthe book which tells a good versus evil story that takes placeafter a virus wipes out most of the American population. Mosaic and Roy Lee are producing the movie, whileWarners will handle worldwide marketing and distribution.

The story focuses on a group of survivors fighting agroup of evil zombies and features dozens of characters andoverlapping storylines running over many years.

The novel was originally published in 1978 and wasre-released in 1990 with King adding and revising portions ofthe story. It was later brought into small screen by ABC as asix-hour miniseries in 1994, and adapted into a graphic novelby Marvel Comics.

There is no word on the aimed release date for thefilm, but Warner Bros. and CBS Films will sit down withwriters and directors in the coming weeks in an attempt tofind the right take on the material.

Universal Pictures and NBC Universal Television hadearlier acquired the rights to King's The Dark Tower.
