Bihar Election Dates 2020

Bihar goes to polls on Wednesday, in the first phase of elections this year. The Bihar elections will be held in three phases from October 28 to November 7. It will be the biggest voting exercise in the world to be held in the time of coronavirus pandemic. According to the Bihar Election Schedule, the first phase of election 2020 will be on October 28 while the second and third-phase polling will be held on November 3 and November 7. The polling will be held for 243 seats. Bihar election results date has been scheduled for November 10 as the term of the Bihar assembly ends on November 29.

The state's 71 assembly segments in 16 districts will go to polls in the first phase. For phase two, 94 constituencies in 17 districts will go to polls and for phase three, 78 constituencies in 15 districts will be covered. According to the Election Commission, in the first phase of Bihar polls, the fate of 1,066 candidates will be decided by 2,14,6,960 voters. The country's biggest election in the coronavirus crisis will be held with many changes, including an extra voting hour and no physical contact during the campaign. Voting will take place from 7 AM to 6 PM instead of 5 PM. Covid-infected patients and virus suspects will vote separately while those in quarantine can cast their votes at the end of voting time.

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising, among others, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United), is up against the opposition "Mahagathbandhan", comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress and Left parties.
