Prof Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak Inaugurates International Colloquium On Creative Teaching And Learning

Literary theorist and feminist critic Prof. Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, inaugurated the international colloquium on 'Creative Teaching and Learning in Higher Education' hosted by the department of English, Sullamusalam Science College, Areacode.

Malappuram (Kerala): On last Tuesday, literary theorist and feminist critic Prof. Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, inaugurated the international colloquium on 'Creative Teaching and Learning in Higher Education' hosted by the Department of English, Sullamusalam Science College, Areacode. Prof Spivak also delivered the Erudite Lecture on 'Theatre of Education'. The inaugural session was followed by a panel discussion - Spivak with Alternative Educators - on how to create 'learning ecosystems' rather than 'learning cages'. 

Besides Prof Spivak, alternative educators like Gautham Sarang & Anuradha of Sarang Attapdi, Actor and story teller Manu Jose, Dr. Sachid attended the session. Dr. K K Kunhammed, Head of the Department of English, Kannur University, moderated the session.

Sunny M Kapikkad, Dalit thinker and activist talked about 'Institutionalized Exclusion' at the valedictory session of the three day international colloquium. 

Sadananand Menon's talk on 'Compulsory Miseducation: A perspective from the Arts' was the main highlight of the second day of the colloquium. Dr. NP Ashley, Assistant Professor, St Stephen's College, New Delhi, shared his thoughts on 'Historical Liabilities of Democracy and the University Space'. The second day ended with a panel discussion by Dr. K K Kunhammed, Prof. R Bindu and Dr. NP Ashley on 'Structuring Education?' which was moderated Dr. K M Sherrif.

Dr Babu PK, Principal of MES College, Mampad, delivered a talk on 'Leading to Innovate: Some Reflections on Higher Education' during the plenary session of the third day the conference. Dr AI Vilayathullah, Assistant Professor of Govt. College, Malappuram, spoke about 'Learning, Teaching, Aesthetics and Research: A Quranic Exploration'. 

Dr. P Muhamed Ilyas, College Principal and Dr M Zahira, former head of the Department of English also spoke at the valedictory session. 

Funded by the Kerala State Higher Education Council, the conference was attended by nearly 500 delegates from various parts of the country.
