The MCC has launched an online resignation facility for participating students to make an exit from their allotted seats without the need of visiting the allocated medical institution for physical resignation. Through this online resignation portal, candidates can quit their allotted seat within the prescribed MCC counselling rules and deadline.

The committee has also introduced changes for candidates who wish to participate in the NEET UG 2026 counselling under the NRI reservation. Students applying for NRI quota seats in the deemed medical universities will now be able to upload the required documents online through the counselling portal.

As per the reforms introduced by the committee in the NEET UG 2026 counselling process, candidates who have been allotted a seat in any counselling round and have opted for an upgrade in subsequent counselling rounds will not be required to physically report to their allotted college.

The Health Ministry announced an online resignation facility for the NEET UG 2026 Counselling. Candidates wishing to resign from their allotted seats, wherever permitted under the applicable counselling rules and timelines, will now be able to do so through the MCC counselling portal without physically visiting the allotted institute, the official announcement stated.

The medical body noted that for ensuring faithful obedience of time schedule and also keeping in view the limited time available for conducting counselling, all participating institutes and colleges are directed to treat all Saturdays, Sundays, and Gazetted Holidays as working days.

The upgradation facility will remain available until the third round of the NEET UG Counselling 2026. After Round 3, candidates holding allotted seats must report physically to their respective institutions for verification of original documents, payment of admission fees, and completion of institutional formalities.

If no seat is allotted after NEET UG counseling Round 1, candidates will become eligible to participate in the next round of the NEET 2026 counselling. If a seat is allotted to a candidate, they may freeze or float their allotment as per their choices. 

Based on merit and preferences, the undergraduate medical seat will be allotted to candidates by the MCC. The Round 1 seat allotment result will be declared on August 21, as per the latest schedule. Candidates must report to the allotted institute from August 22 to 31, 2026.

As per official information, candidates must select course and institute preferences. They must save and lock choices within the given schedule. 

The Medical Counselling Committee has revised the result date for the first round of the NEET  counselling. As per the latest announcement, the NEET UG 2026 Counselling Round 1 result will now be declared on August 21. The MCC has released a revised schedule for the NEET UG 2026 counselling today. As per the new schedule, the NEET Round 1 Seat Allotment result will now be declared on August 21, 2026. 

One of the major reforms introduced by the MCC is the introduction of a one-time physical reporting framework, which is expected to reduce repeated visits by candidates during the counselling process.

The Medical Counselling Committee has announced a revised schedule for the first round of the NEET UG Counselling 2026 on August 13. The revised counselling schedule is available on the committee's official website, mcc.nic.in. As per the new schedule, the NEET UG 2026 counselling Round 1 seat allotment result will be announced on August 19, 2026.

To strengthen candidate support, a 24×7 toll-free helpline (1800-102-7637) has been established. The Health Ministry said bilingual information material, frequently asked questions, and guidance videos will also be made available to help candidates throughout the counselling process. A dedicated email-based grievance redressal mechanism has also been set up for prompt resolution of candidate queries.

According to latest updates provided by NTA Director General Abhishek Singh, a major revamp of the examination team has been completed, with 600 experts removed and new experts onboarded. A four-tier question paper checking system is being introduced to significantly strengthen the scrutiny of examination papers and minimise errors or vulnerabilities. In addition, 20-25 officials are scheduled to be inducted within the next two to three weeks, with a broader induction plan also reviewed during the meeting. The National Testing Agency has undertaken a major revamp of its examination team, with 600 experts removed and new experts being brought on board, following directions from Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi to strengthen the agency's examination systems.
