New Delhi:

JEE Main result for the exams held in April this year has been delayed. An official told NDTV on Monday that the JEE Main results for the second edition of the exams will not be released this week. According to the official, the results will be released after April 30. Though the National Testing Agency (NTA) had fixed April 30 as the results declaration date, the anticipation for an early release of the JEE Main result was high as the Agency managed to release the first edition results in a record one week's time after the exams in January. The JEE Main result will be released on the official website, jeemain.nic.in.

"The results are being prepared right now. We will not be able to release the results early as we did with the first JEE Main in January," the official said.

"The results can be expected after April 30 which means the results will be delayed this time," added the official.

An official had earlier informed NDTV that the date details for the result for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main April exam will be decided on Monday (April 22).

Second edition of JEE Main examination, which is being as an eligibility test for JEE advanced and also as an entrance test for various engineering and technological institutes in the country, was held in the first and second weeks of April 2019.

NTA, a newly-formed government organisation which is mandated to conduct entrance and eligibility tests in the country, held JEE Main twice this year and cumulative scores and ranks of both the exams will be released along with the April results.

According to experts, the results are being delayed because of the task NTA is involved currently, which is: Preparation of the cumulative rank list based on both JEE Main January and JEE Main April results and NTA Scores.

According to official estimates, 10.25 lakh candidates appeared for the second edition of the exam held in April while 10.13 lakh candidates sat for the exam in January. Official data also suggested that in both the exams, 72 per cent of the candidates were common candidates i.e., more than 7 lakh candidates appeared in both the JEE Main exams held this year.
