Pregnant woman allegedly killed by husband in Delhi

New Delhi: A nine-month-old pregnant woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her unemployed husband after a heated argument over family issues in east Delhi, police said today.

20-year-old Vineeta, who got married one-and-half-years ago, was murdered at the couple's residence in Kalyanpuri last night allegedly by her husband Vikrant who is pursuing first year BA course through correspondence, they said.

After the incident, Vikrant himself called police to inform about the murder of his wife and surrendered before them.

"Vikrant told us that his wife used to taunt him often as he was unemployed. He was not interested in his father's business and the issue of his joblessness used to be a reason for their frequent quarrels," a senior police official said.

Last night also, Vikrant claimed that a heated argument erupted over some issue and in a fit of rage, he allegedly stabbed Vineeta several times, he said.

The victim, who comes from Dhadha village in Greater Noida, was rushed to a nearby government hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Doctors told police the deceased had two foetuses indicating that she would have delivered twins.
A similar incident was reported from Najafgarh on Saturday night in which a man allegedly strangulated his wife and then surrendered before police.
