Aam Aadmi Party files defamation suit against news portal MediaSarkar for sting operation

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party has filed a case of criminal defamation against the news portal MediaSarkar over the sting operation which allegedly shows some party leaders agreeing to help push property deals and resolve financial disputes in return for cash donations to the party.

A Hindi news channel has also been sent the defamation notice by the Arvind Kejriwal-led party which is now planning to sue two more news channels who allegedly played the sting CD "substantially", party leader and lawyer Prashant Bhushan said.

"The unedited portions of the CD show that there has been editing. Also, the commentary is at variance with what is shown," Mr Bhushan said.

"Tomorrow, we will also approach the National Broadcasters Association and the Press Council of India for the violation of journalistic ethics," the AAP leader said.

The party had conducted a press conference yesterday in which it gave a clean chit to the leaders, calling the sting a conspiracy against the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the December 4 elections in Delhi.

The Aam Aadmi Party has also urged the Election Commission to stop the circulation of the sting CD.
