New Delhi:
Every household which subscribes to cable TV in Delhi has switched to the set-top box. The national capital has now achieved 100 per cent digitisation.
"Delhi has achieved 100 per cent coverage with respect to installation of set-top boxes, ensuring smooth transmission to the Digital Addressable System (DAS)," P.K. Tripathi, chief secretary in Delhi government, said on Friday.
The centre had taken the decision to switch off the existing analogue cable television networks to the Digital Addressable System (DAS) in the four metro cities of Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
There are 22.98 cable TV subscribers in the national capital and 23.21 lakh set-top boxes have already been installed.
Delhi has 33.41 lakh households, with TV penetration of 88 per cent.
In the rest of the country, the process is to be completed by December 2014.
Meanwhile, Delhi government has appointed district magistrates and sub-divisional magistrates as authorized officers within their local limits of jurisdiction, for the purposes of Sections 11, 18 and 19 of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995.
Besides, Department of Excise, Entertainment and Luxury Taxes has set up a Control Room to receive complaints regarding over-charging for providing set-top boxes.
The Control Room will be headed by the assistant entertainment tax officer and complaints may be made during office hours between 9.30 am and 6.00 pm at 011-23370262.
