Air quality in the national capital slipped into the 'very poor' category on Sunday morning, with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reporting an overall AQI of 377. Data from the CPCB's Sameer app revealed that 16 of the city's 40 monitoring stations recorded 'severe' air quality, while the rest reported 'very poor' levels.
As per CPCB standards, an AQI of 0-50 is 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor', and 401-500 'severe'.
Tesla, the Elon Musk-led EV manufacturer, has spotlighted air-quality concerns with a video. The video shows the Tesla Model Y's HEPA filter in action. The video demonstrates a massive bubble enclosing a Tesla Model Y and a BMW X3. Once smoke bombs fill the bubble, Tesla activates its HEPA-equipped Bioweapon Defense Mode, while the BMW relies on its standard filtration system. The test highlights Tesla's advanced air-purification technology compared to conventional setups.
To demonstrate the technology's effectiveness, Tesla placed an employee inside the Model Y during the experiment, while the BMW X3 cabin remained empty. The video showed Tesla's interior staying clear of red smoke, unlike the BMW, which was quickly invaded. Afterwards, a Tesla engineer removed the Model Y's massive activated carbon and HEPA filters, revealing they had trapped significant amounts of red dust.

Tesla states that the Model Y's advanced HEPA air filter eliminates more than 99.97 pc of dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and other airborne particles. This ensures a cleaner cabin environment and greater peace of mind for occupants. Wherever the journey leads, the Model Y promises fresh, purified air for every drive.

In India, the Tesla Model Y is offered in two variants: Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive. The standard RWD delivers a WLTP-rated range of 500 km, while the Long Range version extends it to 622 km. Pricing begins at Rs 59.89 lakh.

The Tesla Model Y's rear-wheel drive version offers the choice of both a 60 kWh and a larger 75 kWh battery pack in India. The RWD variant is equipped with a single electric motor that generates approximately 295 hp. Furthermore, the 60 kWh battery claims to provide a WLTP range of 500 km on a single charge, while the long-range version asserts a range of 622 km.
