Maruti Suzuki Victoris And Tata Nexon Crash

Tata cars have long been praised for their strong build quality, with numerous crash videos showing occupants escaping without injuries. In recent years, other manufacturers, including Maruti Suzuki, have also begun focusing on improving structural safety. A recent incident from Uttarakhand highlights this shift, where a Maruti Victoris and a Tata Nexon collided on a mountain road. The crash results have sparked fresh discussion about how both brands are evolving in terms of safety and durability, leaving viewers with some surprising takeaways.

A video shared by Dehradun Wale Official on Instagram shows a crash in the Almora region of Uttarakhand. The clip first highlights the rear of the Maruti Victoris, suggesting it collided with a Tata Nexon on a curve along a hilly road. The footage then shifts to the Nexon, which appears to be the facelifted version sold before the current model was introduced in the Indian market.

The Tata Nexon involved in the crash sustained significant damage on its right-side front end. The bonnet shows clear impact marks, while the front bumper, headlights, fender, and fog lamps are all heavily damaged. Even the driver-side front wheel appears compromised, which is unusual given Tata's reputation for strong build quality. Typically, Nexon models are known to withstand collisions better, with less visible damage. This particular accident, however, highlights a rare instance where the Nexon's structure absorbed considerable impact, raising questions about the severity of the crash conditions.

Contrary to expectations, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris held up surprisingly well. Damage was limited to the bumper, headlamp, and fender, while the wheels remained intact. Remarkably, the Victoris appeared to be in working condition despite the collision.

The Tata Nexon featured here is the pre-facelift version, tested before Bharat NCAP was introduced. At the time, it had already secured a 5-star rating under Global NCAP, though the testing parameters differed from today's standards. Despite the visible crash damage in this incident, the Nexon remains a sturdily built SUV. It is important to emphasize that the outcome of this single accident does not suggest the Nexon is unsafe, as its safety credentials remain well established.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris stands out as one of the first SUVs from the brand to achieve a full 5-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests. It scored an impressive 31.66 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Safety and 43 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Safety. These results underline Maruti's growing focus on safety, positioning the Victoris as a benchmark model in the company's SUV portfolio.

Both SUVs continue to be regarded as strong and safe models, though the Maruti Victoris benefits from being newer and more updated, with improved materials enhancing its structural integrity. Many enthusiasts often attempt to judge build quality by flexing exterior panels, but this is misleading. Panels are designed to flex and absorb minor impacts, while the true strength lies in the underlying structure. It is this hidden engineering that ensures occupant safety, making crash test ratings a more reliable measure of durability.
