- The government cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per litre each recently
- Petrol and diesel taxes now stand at Rs 3 per litre and zero, respectively, after the cut
- Maruti Suzuki Swift offers 25.75 kmpl mileage in AMT petrol variant among budget cars
The US-Israel war on Iran has people worried about a spike in petrol and diesel prices in the country. Hence, the topic of petrol price has become a consistent trend. Making a move to address the concerns, the government has slashed excise duty on petrol and diesel prices by Rs 10 per litre each. This significantly reduces the applicable fuel taxes for petrol and diesel, bringing them down to Rs 3 per litre and zero, respectively. However, the reduction is unlikely to bring down prices at fuel stations. To help car owners combat these worries, here are a few budget cars which give good mileage.

Maruti Suzuki Swift (ARAI Mileage- 25.75 kmpl)
The Maruti Swift comes with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z Series petrol engine that produces 82 hp and 112 Nm of torque. It is among the top fuel-efficient petrol cars in India, achieving an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 25.75 kmpl in AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) form and 24.8 kmpl in the manual version. The brand also has the Dzire, which uses the same engine and comes close with an ARAI rating of 25.71 kmpl for the AMT variant and 24.79 kmpl for the manual.
