While the ruling Congress-led UDF and the Opposition CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front may be bitter opponents, they seem to follow the same policy when it comes to granting tickets to women in Kerala. Democratic Indira Congress candidate Shobhana George managed to get a ticket only because her party couldn't afford to sideline a three time MLA.
