2nd ODI: Bhuvneshwar, Jadeja demolish hapless England in Kochi

Ravindra Jadeja impressed with all-round abilities while Bhuvneshwar Kumar in bowling and MS Dhoni (as usual) in batting led India's charge on a sultry day in Kochi. England on the other hand never turned up after the initial bowling spell which saw Indian batsmen in trouble.

  • India did not start on the expected lines as Steven Finn and Jade Dernbach looked menacing on a seaming Kochi wicket. Both Gautam Gambhir and Ajinkya Rahane went on the same Indian score of 18 to give early setbacks. (Photo credit: BCCI)
  • Yuvraj Singh and Virat Kohli settled India's downfall to some extent with the left-hander counter-attacking while the youngster providing stability. Yuvi was extremely disappointed (as seen in images) when he was given lbw despite getting an inside edge. India were in mini trouble at 4/119 when Kohli went for a pain-staking 37 off 54 balls. • It was again left on skipper Dhoni's broad shoulders to do it for the team as another loss was beckoning. He first added 55 with Suresh Raina (55 off 78 balls) and then another 96 with Ravindra Jadeja (61 off 37 balls) to give Team India the necessary impetus. They managed to score 285/6 in the 50 overs when once even crossing 250 seemed difficult. (Photo credit: PTI)
  • England too started on a bad note losing the in-form Ian Bell early on to Shami Ahmed. The ball was still seaming a bit and Indian bowlers did try whole-heartedly to impress themselves. (Photo credit: PTI)
  • Kevin Pietersen and skipper Cook then set off on their way merrily. The pair added 54 with KP scoring the bulk of runs (42 off 44 balls). (Photo credit: PTI)
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar first got rid of Cook (17) and then followed it up with back-to-back wickets of Pietersen and Eoin Morgan to land heavy blows on England's top-order. Dhoni made him bowl his quota of 10 overs on the trot. He ended up with 3/29. (Photo credit: PTI)
  • KP looked solid while on the crease but was moving around way too much. His bowled dismissal definitely put to rest any chances England would have harboured. Morgan going straight after did not help too. (Photo credit: PTI)
  • Even though Ishant Sharma did not bowl well yet again, Indian spinners exploited the conditions with aplomb. Jadeja's 2/12 in 7 overs and Ashwin's 3/39 in his 7 went a long way in assuring India's comfortable victory by 127 runs margin. (Photo credit: BCCI)
