Marriages are not only made in heaven, but in jail too
Hazaribagh: The Chief Judicial Magistrate of a court in Koderma district intervened to settle a bitter marriage dispute between two families in a district jail where Arman Ali was incarcerated on the charge of outraging the modesty of Rufi Razak from Bihar's Nawada district.

The nikkah ceremony was performed inside the jail premises on Monday at 12 noon.

The superintendent of Koderma jail, Martin Rajan Shaw, said that 23-year-old Arman of Jalalbagh village in Koderma district eloped with 19-year-old Rufi of village Rizzat in Nawada district of Bihar about a month back and fled to Delhi where they stayed together in a hotel for 10 days.

But Arman returned to his village along with his paramour after coming to know of his parents' illness. The boy's parents, however, did not accept the girl asking her to go back to her parents, which she did.

In spite of pleas by Rufi's parents to allow the two to be married, Arman's parents did not budge from their position.

After this, the girl's father, Syed Ayub Razak, lodged an FIR with Koderma police station charging Arman of forcibly taking Rufi to Delhi and raping her for 10 days in a hotel.

The Koderma police after registering the case arrested the boy and produced him in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chandres Kumar, who sent him to Koderma jail.

Forced by the turn of events, Arman's parents agreed to the marriage and filed a compromise petition in the Koderma CJM's court, but the CJM said he would grant bail to Arman only after the marriage is solemnized in the Jail itself. issued a written order to the Jail Superintendent to fix the Nikah ceremony at 12 noon.

Jail Superintendent M R Shaw not only made arrangements for the Nikah ceremony, but also arranged a traditional Bhoj inside the jail in which the relatives of both the bride and bridegroom were present along with the officials who blessed the couple.
