Mumbai: Three-year-old run over allegedly by former Congress corporator's son
Mumbai: A three-year-old girl died in Mumbai late on Monday night after being run over by a car. The accused driver, 19-year-old Raunak Desai, was arrested and later released on bail. Raunak is the son of former Congress Corporator Sameer Desai who is senior Congress leader Gurudas Kamat's nephew. The accident took place on Monday night.

The victim's uncle told reporters "We were standing on the road. A car came and hit the child. The child expired on the spot. We caught the driver and handed him over to the police."

Raunak has been charged under Section 304 (A) of the Indian Penal Code or IPC.

Assistant Police Inspector Sudhakar Ramchandra Dubey told reporters, "This incident happened in Prem Nagar area which is a congested area. The girl came under the car. We have seized the car and sent the boy for a medical test."
