Vote for my brother, take my service: Sajjan Kumar

New Delhi:

Politicians Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar may have been denied tickets by the Congress, but that has not meant they are out of the reckoning. Sajjan's new message to his voters is - vote for my brother if you want me to continue.

"Everything has been done under the eyes of Sajjan Kumar," said a voter.

"We are giving one vote and getting two MPs," said another voter.

Two week ago, these voices of support would have been comforting to Sajjan Kumar, the then Congress candidate from South Delhi. But that was before print journalist Jarnail Singh lobbed his shoe at Home Minister P Chidambaram. The shoe missed the Home Minister but kicked up a political storm that forced the Congress to drop Sajjan. However, Sajjan did manage to get his younger brother Ramesh Kumar a ticket. With elections barely a week away in the capital, Sajjan is trying to hardsell his brother to voters.

It's a grueling schedule with more than a dozen rallies under a sweltering sun, but where ever he goes, Sajjan kumar does not forget to remind the voters that by voting for his brother, they are effectively voting for him.

"I am only saying one thing, the vote that you give to Ramesh will come to Sajjan Kumar and we will both work together," said Sajjan.

"I am equally experienced, I used to sit with him and learn and do community service," said Ramesh.

Sajjan Kumar could just be the clincher for South Delhi, but will he end up adding or taking away his brother's votes will be revealed on counting day.
