Vasundhara-BJP talks break down

New Delhi:

Vasundhara Raje has left Delhi after her negotiations with the BJP collapsed.

NDTV has learnt that the plan to give Raje a honourable exit from Rajasthan has not worked out. That's allegedly because party president Rajnath Singh has refused to accept her conditions.

Raje wants to select the person who will take over from her as Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan. She also wants to be made a General Secretary of the BJP. The former chief minister also wanted the party to reinstate the two MLAs who were suspended for rebelling against the BJP in a show of support to her.

Sources say Rajnath Singh clearly asked Raje to resign as a pre-condition for reinstating those MLAs. But she has now refused to do this without getting a clear explanation for why Rajnath Singh is pushing for a change in leadership in Rajasthan.
