A Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was today arrested and an AK assault rifle seized during an operation in Kashmir's Budgam district, police said.
Ishfaq Ahmad Wani alias Molvi, a resident of Chechiloora, was arrested at village Peth Makhama in Magam area this morning, an officer said.
He said an AK assault rifle and some ammunition were recovered from the possession of the captured terrorist.
Police assisted by Army cordoned off the village last night following specific information about presence of some terrorists there, the officer said.
He said the search operation was suspended late last night but a tight cordon was maintained around the village to prevent suspected terrorists from escaping.
