Govt to revisit Food Security Bill
New Delhi: The government will revisit the Food Security Bill that aims at giving monthly subsidised foodgrains to families Below the Poverty Line (BPL).

Sources have told NDTV that Congress president Sonia Gandhi wants changes to the bill.

The bill has been sent back to the empowered group of ministers that will meet on Monday to discuss the bill.

Sources say the National Advisory Council headed by Sonia Gandhi will advise the Group of Ministers (GoM) on the bill.

The bill offers monthly supply of 25 kilos of foodgrains at 3 rupees a kilo to families living BPL.

The Congress election manifesto had promised 35 kilos of foodgrains to BPL families. There's also a debate over including all poor families not just the BPL ones.

On the 18th of March the GoM had in principle approved the draft food security Bill.
