Cop Slaps Dhaba Owner For 'Asking Him To Pay', Video Goes Viral

SHO Navdeep Singh was suspended by the Moga SSP after the video went viral.

Moga: A policeman has been suspended after he was caught on camera beating up a dhaba owner for asking him to pay the bill.

On Tuesday evening, a couple of policemen went to Pappi Dhaba in Moga and ordered for takeaway. While the bill was for Rs 800, the owner asked duo to pay Rs 500.

The cops, then, allegedly said the SHO of Ajitwal police station will pay the bill. Shortly after this, SHO Navdeep Singh turned up at the dhaba and gave the owner Rs 500 for the food. However, the SHO Navdeep Singh was allegedly agitated at being asked to pay the bill and began slapping Pappi Singh. The entire incident was caught on camera by a CCTV at the Dhaba and the video has now gone viral.

Also after the incident, a case was registered against the owner of the dhaba for "selling illicit liquor" at the Ajitwal police station and Pappi Singh was taken into custody.

"I gave them a discount of Rs 300, but still they were angry that I dared to ask them to pay the bill. I was kept in the lock up the entire night and a fake case has been slapped on me," Pappi Singh claimed.

When asked about the incident, SHO Navdeep Singh claimed that Pappi Singh was selling illicit liquor and evading action by accusing the police of beating him up.

But as soon as the video became viral, SSP Moga placed SHO Navdeep Singh under suspension.
