New Delhi:

A Raja, who got the prestigious Communications and IT Ministry for the second consecutive term on Thursday said auction of spectrum for 3G services and introduction of IT at the lowest level in the government to make the functioning paperless are on top of his agenda.

The Minister is likely to take charge next week as he along with his other Cabinet colleagues will be going to Chennai to seek their leader's (Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi) blessings.

"Auctioning of 3G spectrum is on top of my priority list," Raja told PTI immediately after announcement of the portfolios.

With the introduction of 3G and Wimax, wireless broadband would get a major boost specially in the rural areas.

Asked about the schedule for auctioning of 3G spectrum, the Minister said the DoT would take the proposal in the Cabinet at the earliest.

He added that his efforts during his previous stint in the Ministry would lead to further lowering of call tariffs and hope that the local calls becomes as cheap as 10 paise a minute while nationwide STD call at 25 paise.
