Two Uttar Pradesh Police constables suspended after woman alleges rape

Lucknow: Two police constables were placed under suspension in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district on Thursday after a 30-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by them.

According to the woman, the two men barged into her house in Jangeru village for loot and raped her. The family then decided to flee the village, but the locals called the cops to investigate the matter.

When the cops came to the house, the woman says, she was shocked to see the two men in police uniform.

Angry locals protested after which the two accused fled the village. Both the constables have been booked for rape, but have not been arrested, a police officer said.

The woman was sent for her medical examination and the report is still awaited.
