Gondia, Maharashtra:
A Police vehicle crushed a biker to death here in Eastern Maharashtra, police sources said on Saturday.
The vehicle was returning after dropping prisoners at the Bhandara Central Jail when the mishap took place on Friday night at Rani Avantibai Square. The driver lost control over the vehicle and hit the biker who was on his way home, they said.
The deceased was identified as Jeetlal Shriram Thakre, a teacher at a local school.
The driver, Chaitram Sukhlal Hukre, fled from the spot and later surrendered to the police. An irate mob briefly disrupted road traffic in the area following the mishap, they added.
