Haryana government plans to set up 660 MW plant at Yamunanagar

Sirsa: Haryana Power Minister Ajay Yadav today said the state government plans to set up a 660-MW thermal unit of super critical technology at Yamunanagar.

A gas-based thermal plant of 1,500 MW is also planned to be constructed in Faridabad and a 2,800 MW nuclear power plant is being set up by the Centre in Fatehabad, he said after laying the foundation stone of a 33 KV substation at village Chormar near Sirsa, according to an official release.

Mr Yadav further said the state's installed power generation capacity from all sources has increased from 5,300 MW to 9,921 MW.

To strengthen power transmission and distribution system in the state, the Government of Haryana will construct 166 new sub-stations of various levels and augment capacity of 160 existing substations during next three years at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore.

During the current financial year, 20 new substations have already been commissioned and capacity of 37 existing substations has been augmented.

Besides this, a plan of Rs 2,000 crore is being executed to strengthen power distribution system in the state.
