Nobel laureate Venkataraman Ramakrishnan was among NDTV's global living legends honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee this evening.
The eminent physicist and molecular biologist shared that he did not get into the best colleges and IITs, but never let that stop him.
"Pursue your interests and keep your options open when there are setbacks," he advised. "None of us do anything by ourselves. Even these great cricket stars you've met today have had great chances and mentors. Just as people have helped us along, once we've reached a certain stage it's our job to help others."
