Uber claimed they have a strong feedback system and this driver also had some feedback on him, the officer said. According to him, Uber said it usually made some corrections based on feedback. But nothing drastic so far had been reported against Yadav.

Regarding Nidhi Shah - the young woman who had tweeted on Tuesday that she complained to Uber about Yadav after she caught him staring and smiling "creepily" at her during a drive - Uber executives said they had not received the complaint. (Read: Woman Reported Uber Driver Shiv Kumar Yadav)

In a series of tweets, Ms Shah described the incident which took place when she was on a visit to Delhi. In her tweets, she also enclosed the email exchange with Uber - her complaint and the company's response.

Regarding the failure to shut down their app, Uber today claimed they had not been served any notice regarding the ban by the government. They stopped operating the app in Delhi today after receiving the notice from the police.

Uber has already sent police the logs related to the activity of that vehicle that night. The company has also promised to retrieve relevant data from their San Francisco office and provide it to the Delhi police.

Yadav, who had allegedly raped the 27-year-old finance executive on Friday night just 3 km from her home in Delhi's Inderlok, was arrested on Saturday. Subsequently, he was found to have been booked twice for rape and assault and once for illegal possession of a weapon.

The police have accused Uber, a technology platform, of hiring Yadav without conducting proper background checks.

The company has been already been charged with cheating and violating the law by running its business despite the fact that it had not registered as a taxi service.
