He may be one of the most carefully-protected VIPs in the country, but Rahul Gandhi took not one but two types of public transport today.
The Congress General Secretary took the Delhi metro and then used a radio taxi to reach the Japanese Park in north-west Delhi's Rohini area.
The driver of the cab, a man named Shravan, wasn't expecting a nationally-recognized passenger when he was flagged down near the Rohini metro station.
"I was asked to drive till the Japanese park and then paid Rs 200 when we got there," Shravan said.
Mr Gandhi, according to PTI, got on the metro at the Race Course station.
At the Japanese Park, he addressed Youth Congress activists. "People talk of corruption. If you want to fight corruption, then this can only be done through the political system, through democratic means," he said.
Mr Gandhi's comments came on a day when anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare warmed that he will ask voters not to support the Congress if the new Lokpal Bill is not passed in parliament during the winter session. The bill provides for a new agency called the Lokpal which will investigate complaints of corruption among government servants.
Mr Hazare has said that he will hold a series of rallies in states like Uttar Pradesh, which are headed for elections. UP is Mr Gandhi's special area of focus.
