CBI Questions Naveen Patnaik's Close Aide in Connection With Chit Fund Scam

CBI Questions Naveen Patnaik's Close Aide in Connection With Chit Fund Scam

Saroj Sahu, close aide of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik

Bhubaneshwar: A close aide of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was questioned by the CBI on Saturday in connection with the ongoing investigations into the chit fund scam in the state.

Saroj Sahu is Mr Patnaik's personal aide and works at the Chief Minister's residence in Bhubaneshwar.

Mr Sahu was questioned by the CBI for about 90 minutes.

While leaving the CBI office, Mr Sahu told reporters that he had answered all questions put to him and that he has no role in the scam at all.

Sources in the CBI say they called Mr Sahu in for questioning after a broker, previously arrested by the agency, alleged the role of Mr Sahu in the operations of another chit fund company.

In the past, sources close to Mr Patnaik have said that the Chief Minister has nothing to do with the chit fund scam and that those arrested from the ruling party for alleged involvement in the scam, including a Lok Sabha MP and a MLA, are guilty of individual transgressions.
