Narendra Modi plays fast and loose with truth: Omar Abdullah

BJPs Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi addresses an election rally at Hira Nagar town in Kathua district on Wednesday.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today hit out at Narendra Modi on his comments at a rally in the state, accusing him of "playing fast and loose with the truth." He also said Mr Modi should apologise to India for calling Defence Minister AK Antony an agent of Pakistan.
Mr Abdullah reacted sharply when Mr Modi referenced his tweet, purportedly describing a rally he had addressed in December as the biggest that Jammu and Kashmir had ever seen.
"When I came here for a rally last time, the state Chief Minister used a helicopter to see how huge the rally was. And he was honest to say on Twitter that Jammu and Kashmir had never witnessed such a rally," the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate said.
Omar Abdullah immediately tweeted his denial.
"NaMo certainly plays fast & loose with the truth. He quotes me & can't even get that right. Modi Sb please quote me but do it right :-) (sic)," he tweeted.
In his December 1 tweet, the Chief Minister had uploaded a photograph, taken from an aircraft, of Mr Modi's rally and commented, "Taken at 1:50 today while the state chopper was flying to Srinagar. Anyone want to estimate crowd size?"
He clarified today that the point of his tweet was entirely opposite to what Mr Modi suggested, and  added that he was "blissfully ignoring" today's rally.
Speaking to NDTV, Mr Abdullah also said Mr Modi should apologise for his comments accusing AK Antony of helping Pakistan. (Read)
"The fact that he is accusing the Defence Minister of the country of being a Pakistan agent is so wrong. He owes a personal apology to AK Antony; he owes an apology to the country," he said.
