Days after an Indian-origin teenager was killed in Sydney by an out of control car while she was waiting for a bus, her family has demanded justice.
Nikul Patel, the father of Aneri Patel, 16, visited the accident site outside a chemist in Kogarah, a suburb, on Wednesday where his 16-year-old daughter was hit and killed when a 4WD left the road on Monday morning.
He feels he has lost everything after his daughter's death while waiting for the bus in Sydney's south. "She always loved us, she always cared for us," Herald Sun quoted Patel telling the Seven Network television channel. "She was everything now I don't have anything."
Puipuimaota Galuvao, who is accused of being unlicensed and behind the wheel during the crash, has been charged with multiple offences, including dangerous driving occasioning death.
Galuvao, 26, is the sister of two-time NRL premiership player Joe Galuvao. Her being released on bail has sparked outrage in the community.
Aneri's grandfather JC Patel, said the family required justice. "That's all."
But Attorney-General Brad Hazzard defended the police decision to grant the allegedly fatal driver bail.
Hazzard said whilst it was a "difficult and extremely sad event", the police who made the decision to grant bail "should be supported in the decision-making process".
Galuvao will appear in court in October.
