Woman murdered in black magic ritual

Korba, Chhattisgarh: Five persons have been arrested following the murder of a woman, allegedly part of a black magic ritual in Korba district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place at Rugmuda village under Balco police limits recently and the five accused identified as Chhat Ram, Sampatram, Ganeshram Anant, Harasram and Milandas were held in connection with the killing of the victim, identified as Kachra Bai, Korba, Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) T R Kosima said.

Police is on the look out for two more persons - Bhagwati Anant and Badra Bai - in the case, he said.

The SP said quacks Harasram and Milandas (both belonging to the Baiga community) have been accused of murdering the woman, who had come along with her father Chatram Bharadwaj and other family members to get a 'cure' for her sick brother Manmohan.

Kachra Bai was found in a pool of blood at the village and eight others were seriously injured in the ritual following which the accused fled the scene, police said.

The arrested are being quizzed and further investigations are on, they added.
