Actress Ranjitha files police complaint against Sun TV

Actress Ranjitha files police complaint against Sun TV
Bangalore: Sandalwood actress Ranjitha, purportedly seen in the sex video with Swamy Nithyananda which hogged national headlines early last year, is back in the limelight once again.

Now, the actress has accused Sun TV of defamation and named Sun TV Network, Dinakaran Daily and its website in her complaint.

In the process, she has also smartly played a political card. Ranjitha filed a complaint at the Chennai City Crime Branch, alleging that the person seen in the video is certainly not her, and that the people involved in the entire episode were demanding that she pay a kickback to stop them from circulating the footage.

Responding to why she remained mum for over one and a half year to take this step, she said, "While DMK reigned, I feared for my safety. Now that the government has changed, I feel that justice will be done."

Other ideas?

By playing this card, the actress seems to be inviting a good political backing to avenge the shame. "I was portrayed in a very demeaning way and my career is at stake now," she added.

Cashing in on the controversy that shook the UK after a big media house was forced to shut down for trespassing into someone's personal life, the actress questioned the Sun Group, which manages to remain untouched in spite of de-faming her. However, the ground reality remains that the current government will now eventually target the Sun Group. To prove the point further, it can be noted that the CEO of Sun Group, Hansraj Saxena, was arrested recently after film producer Selvaraj filed a complaint of financial irregularities against him.

Probe to expand

Police Commissioner J K Thriparthi, who also received a copy of the complaint, said, "We will be probing into the matter. The Karnataka police have also have enquired regarding this matter earlier and we will look into all the relevant details."

A source close to the DMK reveals, "The strategy to corner Sun Group has begun and Ranjitha is being used as a tool against the party and the channel. The main targets however are Sun TV Network, Dinakaran Daily and its website."
