Paris:
French broadcasters today said that six of their journalists covering protests in Egypt had been
detained in Cairo, where foreign journalists face growing intimidation.
Three journalists from TF1, France's biggest private TV broadcaster, were detained in Cairo today morning by armed men in civilian clothes and taken to an unknown destination, the
channel said.
French international news channel, France 24 yesterday said that three of its journalists had been detained while covering protests in Egypt and were being held by "military intelligence services".
The channel today said that it had no news of the missing journalists.
The United States has condemned a "concerted campaign" of intimidation against international journalists covering the unrest in Egypt, as news media reported a string of assaults and arrests.
Media watchdog group, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has condemned as "shocking", attacks in Cairo against foreign media by partisans of Egypt's embattled President Hosni Mubarak.
It noted that journalists from the BBC, Al-Jazeera, CNN, Al-Arabiya, ABC News and other outlets had been attacked.
