Pak Minister Rehman Malik in India: highlights of his first press interaction
New Delhi: Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik arrived in New Delhi amidst reports of confusion over where his plane should land.

He spoke to the media soon after his arrival. Highlights of his press interaction.  


  • I am sorry for all of you waiting for me but it was beyond me.
  • I bring the message of peace and love on behalf of everyone in Pakistan. I am happy that the situation isn't like it was 5 years ago.
  • Our biggest achievement is the visa agreement.
  • The interaction between the two people is expected to bring a lot of good.
  • I must give credit to President Zardari and my Prime Minister. I also must share the credit with Prime Minister of India and Mr Chidambaram.
  • Our journey towards peace is progressing very well especially with interaction with the two governments.

We have lost 40,000 innocent people to terrorism. We know what terrorism is. I would like to offer my condolences to families who suffered. Non-state actors have played havoc with both nations. Let's forget dark days... Pakistan and India have to be friends.

On Hafiz Saeed

  • There has been lot of propaganda.
  • We have received the dossiers.
  • We arrested him thrice; Pakistan courts released him.
  • I assure you we are investigating and if there is evidence that can stand the test of law, we have  no love lost for Hafiz Saeed.
  • Kasab's statement not enough, it has to be substantiated with evidence.
On Kargil martyr Saurabh Kalia
  • If any human being died, nobody will hesitate to say sorry.
  • When there is a war, the bullet does not see who is there.
  • We don't want these things repeated, we want peace, that is why I am here.
  • I have not examined the case. It has recently come to my notice.
  • I will be happy to meet the father of the boy, shake his hand and listen to what he has to say.
  • We don't know whether he was killed by Pakistan or the weather.
